Welcome to Wayland

Upcoming Business Training

Wayland’s Economic Restructuring Committee (WERC)  is hard at work planning another valuable training for Wayland’s Downtown Business Owners.

Details for the April 16, 2015 WERC Program

The Wayland Economic Restructuring Committee (WERC) has completed the final plans with instructors from   Zingerman’s of Ann Arbor, Michigan for a Customer Service Seminar. Wayland business owners, Main Street volunteers and community members are invited to attend the event on April 16, 2015. WERC is excited about bringing this caliber of programming to Wayland; it’s the kind of inspirational and challenging seminar business owners and organizations should not miss. Tickets are now available – the cost is $10.00/person. Seating is limited.

“Ready to take your customer service to the next level?

This seminar is for you! Drawing from The Art of Giving Great Service, covers all of the techniques and tips that we use at Zingerman’s to train our staff to treat each and every customer like royalty!

And why would you want to use Zingerman’s techniques? If you Googled Zingerman’s Customer Service, you’d mostly find nothing but praise, from the likes of Saveur and Forbes magazines to a plethora of unknown but passionate foodie and business bloggers. Praise we deeply appreciate because we’ve worked hard to maintain that level of service as we grew from a small corner delicatessen with under 10 employees to a community of 9 businesses with over 600 employees!

Which must lead you to wonder – how do we do it? The answer is simple (if not easy) and even better, it is entirely available to YOU! Here at Zingerman’s, we have codified our definition of great service and intentionally and consistently teach it to every single employee, customer facing or not, that joins our organization. Zingerman’s “recipes” for great customer service, the 3 Steps to Giving Great Service and 5 Steps to Handling a Customer Complaint, have been adopted or adapted with much success by hospitals, non-profits, retail stores, software companies, restaurants, investment advisers and banks, to name a few, all over the country!”

Volunteer Downtown

Do you have new ideas for our downtown? Want to be a part of building the future? Join a Main Street committee!

There has been an incredible response from the Wayland community to get involved with the program and our second year is off to an amazing start! We can never have enough volunteers and we are looking for more. Our Design committee is looking for two people to join them in their efforts to revitalize our downtown. Below is a brief description of the committee and the projects they have worked on.

Design: works to get downtown into top physical shape by capitalizing on its best assets – such as historical buildings and downtown layout. Create an inviting atmosphere through window displays, parking areas, signs, sidewalks, street lights, and landscaping.

Members of this committee are typically interested in: architecture, history, real estate, interior design, contracting, graphic design and art, city planning, and being a part of the “action”

Some of our Design committee projects include:Wash Up Wayland, Historical Coloring Contest, Facade Grants & Design Services, Sign Guidelines, Streetscape Visioning & Planning, Downtown Tree Care & Gardening, and more!

Each of us has a vision for the future of Wayland, and individually,we each possess unique skills necessary for this program to succeed. If you are committed to making a difference in downtown, big or small, we need YOU!

Contact Alicia at the Main Street office for more information about the Design committee and other available volunteer opportunities!
