Henika District Library
149 S Main St,
Wayland, MI 49348
Designed by Fred H. Eely & built by S.H. Schleiss in 1899 this two-story, Richardsonian Romanesque building. Constructed of random-patterned fieldstone with architectural-grade, asphalt-shingle roof, this building boasts a turret with four, one-over-one double -pane windows on sandstone sills. The stone used in construction was gathered from a local farmer. This was all made possible because Julia Robinson Henika bequeathed two thousand dollars to the Wayland Ladies Library Association.
