FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Wayland, Mich.) –

Wayland Main Street/Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will host a local investing workshop on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 9:30AM to 12:00PM at New Life Community Church.

The workshop, titled Grubstake, is the first of seven planned throughout the State of Michigan and will teach the fundamentals of how to make sound community investments and directly participate and benefit from the revitalization of one’s own community.

Investing locally seems like a no-brainer to most but knowing if it’s the right fit is another story. Grubstake will discuss the MILE Act (Michigan Invests Locally Exemption) which allows companies in Michigan to raise capital from investors in Michigan. Come see a mock pitch, ask questions, and learn from the experiences of others.

Led by REVALUE of Ypsilanti, Grubstake was developed in partnership with the Michigan Main Street Center and is supported by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), Michigan Municipal League (MML), Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the National Coalition for Community Capital (NC3).

“Downtown Wayland is proud to host this incredible workshop and bring critical investing tools to our community. Grubstake as a word may leave you scratching your head but investing and raising capital doesn’t have to. Revalue and the Michigan Main Street Center have created a rare and innovative opportunity for our community.” Executive Director, Ingrid Miller.

Grubstake is free and open to the public. Space is limited, registration is required. For more information or to register visit, http://whatisgrubstake.com/.

Press Release: Ribbon cutting marks…

For Immediate Release

Ribbon cutting marks Wayland Main Street/Downtown Development Authority placemaking addition to Downtown

(Wayland, Mich.) –

Wayland Main Street/Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will host a ribbon cutting at the newly constructed ITC Pavilion located at the corner of Pearl and Pine streets in Downtown Wayland on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 12:30PM.

The project was funded by ITC of Michigan which supported the design and creation of the downtown rain garden (completed in 2017) as well as the pavilion; the Michigan Realtors Association’s MI Great Places, Inc. placemaking grant that empowers communities to achieve “small wins” through community driven projects; #TeamGarcia (Abe and Natalie Garcia), Jean Farrell of Real Estate One – Success, and Jason Makowski of NAI Wisinski that provided the local match necessary to complete the project; and the Wayland Main Street/DDA for additional match and visionary leadership that spearheaded the project.

This project would not have been completed without the enthusiastic support of the City of Wayland and the Department of Public Works that expertly constructed the pavilion. Additional thanks to PCI that reviewed plans and permitted the project at no cost as a community partner.

“The ITC Pavilion project is a testament to the community-driven, revitalization efforts at work in Downtown Wayland. With the support of multiple community partners, the pavilion is an added public asset for all to enjoy.” commented Executive Director, Ingrid Miller. “We look forward to adding new landscape features around the pavilion in the spring and are currently partnering with Wayland Union High School students to design and construct furniture for the space.”

The ribbon cutting is open to the public, light refreshments will be served – dress warm!
