Wayland Main Street/Downtown Development Authority has been awarded $4,500 from MI Great Places, Inc., the Michigan Realtors® Lighter, Quicker, Cheaper grant program, to complete a pavilion near the downtown rain garden.
Local Realtors® Jean Farrell, of Real Estate One – Success, and Jason Makowski, of NAI Wisinski of West Michigan contributed to the project as well as #TeamGarcia and the original benefactor, ITC Michigan. The project was developed and implemented through the Wayland Main Street/DDA.
“We are proud of the continued growth and investment in our downtown. Projects like the rain garden and now pavilion are an excellent example of our community pulling together toward a shared vision for a vibrant downtown. Being awarded this grant is a huge boost for our program and affirms that we are headed in the right.” said Executive Director, Ingrid Miller.
The pavilion will be a 16-foot by 28-foot open-air structure located on the west side of the rain garden. In 2017 ITC Michigan awarded Wayland Main Street $4,000 to install the garden in a storm water remediation portion of a city owned parking lot. ITC Michigan has contributed another $5,500 toward the pavilion.
